Sir Vernon Ellis

Sir Vernon Ellis was knighted in the 2011 New Years Honours list for services to music.

Sir Vernon is Chair of the British Council having replaced Neil Kinnock in 2010. He has held many senior positions including International Chairman at Accenture (whom he joined in 1969 and where he has spent most of his career), Chairman of the Board of the Prince of Wales International Business Forum, and is currently the chair of several other companies. He continues to actively use his expertise, for instance as a member of Advisory Councils or Boards for the Centre for European Reform, IMD, INSEAD, and the Said Business School, University of Oxford. He was Deputy Chairman of the Mayor of Seoul's International Business Advisory Council from 2004-2006, and the UK private sector representative at the G8 Digital Opportunities Task Force.

He has a passion for the arts, and particularly music, and through his Foundation, hosts regular musical events at his home to support musicians. He is Chairman of the English National Opera, the Classical Opera Company and Missions, Models and Money, and is trustee of the Royal College of Music, the Kathleen Ferrier Awards and Florestan Trust.
